Your First Few Visits
Upon entering our office our receptionist will greet you and welcome you to our family. We will request you complete our patient forms located in the New Patient Center. The paperwork provides us with general information about you and your condition.
During your first two visits, the doctor will perform a complete NUCCA examination, as well as testing your ability to turn and bend along with other standard neurologic, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations as indicated. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to to get a full evaluation. Our clinic uses the latest technology in advanced digital X-ray. These digital images help us rule out more serious conditions and assist us in developing the most effective care plan for you. The hallmark of NUCCA is accuracy and it is the x-ray that provides the exact reduction pathway necessary for correction. Most people are amazed once they see their images and can often immediately identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.
Once all the information from your paperwork, consultation, examination and x-rays has been evaluated, your doctor will take time to give you a report of findings to answer the three most common and important questions:
- Can you help me?
- What do you recommend that I do to get better?
- How much is it going to cost?
After discussing with you your history and your goals, examining your spine and reviewing any x-rays or tests, your doctor will discuss recommendations with you. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, the doctor will tell you. If we believe we can help you, we will recommend care and a wellness program.
A Note About Your Care…
The NUCCA x-ray analysis is very complex and requires a considerable amount of the doctor’s time. Therefore, it is generally not possible for patients to receive their first correction on the same day that x-rays are taken. If you desire to have your spine corrected on the first day due to an extended distance traveled (approximately 25% of our patients travel greater than one hour each way for care) or very acute pain, that is possible. Please let us know when you call to schedule your appointment if you need this consideration. By the way, the NUCCA spinal correction itself is barely perceived by the patient and is delivered with absolutely no twisting or cracking of your spine.
